The Roaring Twenties.

2020. It’s been a defining year. None of us could have foreseen what we would have been facing this time twelve months ago.

But the COVID pandemic aside, 2020 has been a defining year for many other reasons.

For me, this is perhaps the year that I’ve felt fully engaged with and truly happy with my career. It’s not just about completely putting my passion, training and experience into use - it is about working with people who show appreciation, gratitude and simply say ‘thank you’ — and mean it. Those two little words can, and do mean the world. It’s a big change from where I found myself at the end of 2019.

I’ve gained a new home and a new way of life, as well as a new perspective on personal and professional relationships. Many new adventures and experiences have come my way- I’ve had the opportunity to work on a major project that will truly transform the lives of families across the UK, put into practice some fun digital ideas and dipped my toe into the waters of big, new adventures.

And personally, much like the end of 2019, 2020 has shown who my true friends are. Perspective, and the way people react have cast a light on who and what is important. New mentors in my life have given me some great advice and helped me to focus on what is right and true.

But whilst this year has been exhausting, challenging, emotional and at times, down right awful, I do believe there are brighter times ahead.

Opportunity is around every corner, but we need to keep working, living and creating so when the times comes, we’ll be ready.

2021 has to be a better year. Don’t save things till best. Have a list of what you want to do and just do it. Embrace those opportunities when they come your way and spend time with those who make you happy. Focus on how you can bring more value wherever you go and whatever you do. That’s what I’ll be doing these next, fresh twelve months. 🥂
